An attempt to collect the darkest core of a shadow. The umbra is the inner region a shadow keeps entirely from the light. In this series I treated that region as a colour: not black, but a field in which red and blue decay.

A series that tries to scatter a face rather than recognise it. In each work a portrait is reduced to a single point of colour; the space left over becomes the place where the viewer puts their own face.

Mycorrhiza is the way fungal threads wind around tree roots and turn a forest into a single network. Throughout the series I painted not the root but the gap between roots. The connection is more visible than the things it connects.

A series in which colour comes before form. There is no object in any of the works; only what happens where two colours meet. That is why I did not liken its name to anything else.

The same face template repeated forty times with different colour decisions. I wanted to see how many people a single face can be. Hung together, the series says something other than the individual works do.
